This post comes to you while simultaneously bookmarking and starting to watch all of the current 2019 Netflix obsessions, as recommended by Harrisburg residents.
I asked Cherishburg followers what their current Netflix obsession was and, as always, our city delivered. If you’re anything like me, you love Netflix because of its vast offering, but hate committing to the gamble of a new series. As one follower best put it, “Is there anything else on Netflix besides The Office?” We get stuck in old patterns and forgo branching out for the ease of knowing what we already like.
And then even when we do want to branch out, we cannot for the LIFE of us remember the name of that show our friend recommended. To help make your next season-ending-withdrawal-transition a little more seamless, I compiled a list of the top Netflix shows to watch next in 2019 thanks to your Harrisburg neighbors.
You
Apparently many of you are as equally obsessed with this thriller as the main character is with his love interest. This series follows a young bookstore clerk whose seemingly innocent crush turns sinister rather quickly.
Gilmore Girls
Is there ever a bad time to restart the Gilmore Girls series? If you haven’t tuned in before, this mom and daughter drama will keep you caffeinated and well-stocked on Netflix content during its seven season stretch.
Black Mirror
Are you in the mood for some suspense and satirical stories? Black Mirror makes a perfect start-and-stop drama featuring new twilight zone-esque plot lines each episode.
Schitt’s Creek
Already laughing and I’ve only watched the previews, this sitcom places a once wealthy family in small-town Schitt’s Creek – ironically their only remaining asset, purchased as a joke many years earlier.
Law & Order: SVU
Solving crimes and taking names. Law & Order has been a household name for years, but that doesn’t mean it’s not time to dive in, or dive back in, to the crime-investigations of the Special Victims Unit.
Queen of the South
Drugs and love – a deadly duo. Follow one woman’s journey as she learns what it’s like to be chased by the head of a drug ring and who eventually ends up running her own drug empire.
Dynasty
We all love a good soap opera and this one doesn’t disappoint. Drama ensues as two wealthy families fight over their money and their children. Wealth only looks so glitz and glam for so long.
Big Mouth
I think it’s safe to say everyone hates puberty. In this adult-geared animated series, the main character is stuck in the middle of the growing up nightmare. I think a lot of us can still relate.
Friends from College
Growing up is and never was easy – at least for most of us. This comedy series unravels the relationships of nearly 40-year-old once college pals. With growing up comes a major dose of nostalgia.
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
At least growing up doesn’t mean we’re too old for a little teen romance, right? This film showcases what it would’ve felt like for all our puberty-written love letters to get exposed to those we wrote them for.
Conan Without Boarders
Why keep your humor to yourself when you can spread it all over? Well-known late night talk show host, Conan O’Brien does just that in his series. Follow him as he takes his sense of humor all over the map.
Russian Doll
I wonder what it would feel like to repeat the same day on loop, as though nothing had happened. In this web television series, main character Nadia repeatedly attends a party and dies by the end of the night. She wakes up unharmed the following day and the loop continues.
Punisher
I’m always here for a good conspiracy. This series follows a man by the name of Punisher as he seeks revenge and unravels the injustices of the underworld in New York’s crime scene.
Wanted
I think it’s safe to say we’re all here for a good crime show. This Australian crime thriller follows a wrong-place, wrong-time drama series featuring two polar-opposite individuals who are on the run after witnessing and being framed for a murder involving dirty cops.
The Good Place
What if when you died, you and went to the good place or the bad place, but you died and went to the good place by mistake? This comedy series showcases the aftermath of one person who finds themselves in this exact predicament. Would you speak up or keep quiet?
It’s Time for A Netflix Binge
You can find me curled up on the couch binge-watching all of these series and movies for however long it takes me to get through them. Thanks for all who contributed ideas, and if there’s another series you’re obsessed with right now, add it in the comments below or shoot me a DM on Instagram @Cherishburg_
